Scope

This international workshop aims to exchange the latest information on the development of photoemission spectroscopy and detailed understanding of electronic states of strongly correlated electron systems. Separations of the bulk and surface electronic states as well as different symmetry states are of main issues to be covered in the workshop. The roles of charge, orbital and spin degrees of freedom as well as phase transitions are going to be covered not only in the rare earth and transition metal compounds but also in such materials as MgB2.
Both high energy and low energy photoemission spectroscopies with high energy resolution in the respective energy regime will be discussed.

This workshop is related to the ongoing COE research project "Strongly Correlated Electron Phase under Multiple Environment", financed by MEXT of Japan from FY1999 to 2003.

Main Topics

Bulk and suraface electronic states of f- and d-electron systems
Photoemission spectroscopy of various new materials
Photoemission studies of phase transitions
High energy- and momentum-resolution photoemission spectroscopy
High photon energy photoemmission spectroscopy
Bulk-sensitive angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy
Micro and nano structures
Complementary experimental techniques and their developments
Theory of photoemission spectroscopy of strongly correlated systems

Oral and poster presentations will end off around noon of 17(Thur).
Banquet will be held from 6:20 pm on 16(Wed).
Bus excursion (free of charge) to Himeji Castle and SPring-8 will be organized in the afternoon of 17(Thur). The bus comes back to Osaka at night. However, one can get off at Himeji JR(Japan Railway) station or stay in SPring-8 for further discussion. Persons who join the bus excursion and do not want to come back to Osaka on 17(Thur) are asked to declare it in the registration form.

Call for Contributions

In addition to invited speakers, a limited number of oral presentations will be selected from the submitted extended abstracts. Poster presentations up to about 100 will be accepted.
Poster sessions are held in the afternoon of 15 (Tue) and 16 (Wed). In addition, 3 minutes poster preview is allotted to 10 posters in the morning of both days. The selection will be done by the members of the organizing committee and International Advisor Board.

Abstract

Submission of the extended abstract is to be done only electronically. Details are as follows:

Please prepare an abstract either in PDF, Microsoft Word or LaTeX. In the case of LaTeX, use the template file available from the Web-page. An example file for Microsoft Word is found in the Web-page, too. All the submitted abstracts are planned to be converted into PDF files. Then all the submitted abstracts can be viewed on-line from a few weeks before the workshop. Please note that if the file sent to us cannot be printed out, we might ask you to resubmit in another format.
Abstracts are to be in English. The size of the abstract should be A4 (21 x 29.7 cm2), one page. Margins of 2.5 cm should be taken from all the top, bottom, left and right sides. The title should be bold-faced and center-lined. The list of authors and their affiliations should be center-lined and the latter should be in italic. The body of the abstract should be written in fonts not smaller than 11 pt. Figures can be included but please do not make the file-size too big. In the case of Microsoft Word, use only JPEG or Windows Metafiles (WMF). In the case of LaTeX, use only EPS.
References should be listed just below the abstract body.

After preparing the abstract, send the electronic file to
*****decima.mp.es.osaka-u.ac.jp
by e-mail.

Download a template file [Word-template (6.0/95 for Win and Mac), TeX-template (Win&DOS), TeX-template (Mac), PDF-example].

Proceeding

A special proceeding is not published. However, contributed papers are refereed on the standard of J. Synchrotron Radiation (JSR) or J. Electron Spectroscopy and Related Phenomena (JESRP), and will be published as regular articles. The manuscripts related to Synchrotron Radiation Research are refereed for JSR. Other manuscripts are considered for JESRP. Please refer to http://journals.iucr.org for JSR and http://www.elsevier.nl/locate/elspec for JESRP.
The manuscript should be presented on 15 (Tue) to the publication desk.
